Softball Game Preview: Clifton Mustangs vs. Montclair Mounties

The Clifton Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Montclair Mounties on Tuesday. Clifton has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clifton fell victim to Passaic Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Hornets. The Mustangs have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Montclair might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was West Essex who claimed the real prize. The Mounties took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Clifton now has a losing record of 4-5-1. As for Montclair, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Clifton couldn't quite finish off Montclair in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
