Mesa suffers fifth straight loss on the road

Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers

After a string of six wins, the Mesa Jackrabbits's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They suffered a tough 42-21 loss at the hands of Salpointe Catholic. Mesa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Salpointe Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Leading Salpointe Catholic to victory were Jordan Watts and Aryanna Kollasch. Watts scored 11 points, while Kollasch scored 9 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Watts' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Allison Even, who scored 5 points.

Mesa has yet to win a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 6-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Salpointe Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa will take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Canyon View is ranked 14th, while Mesa is ranked 25th). Salpointe Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th.
