Taylorville entered their tilt with Mt. Zion on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-49 W against the Mt. Zion Braves. Given the Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Braves are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Taylorville's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Mt. Zion, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.
