Recap: Draughn Wildcats vs. East Burke Cavaliers

This season hasn't been kind to the Draughn Wildcats, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Burke. Even though they lost, Draughn's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the defeat, Draughn saw an underclassman step up: D'Andre Moore scored 31 points along with five rebounds. Moore scored a full 49.2% of Draughn's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Tillery , who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.

Draughn bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for East Burke, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Draughn will challenge Owen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Owen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday. East Burke will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Maiden at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th. Maiden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Burke in North Carolina (Maiden is ranked 102nd, while East Burke is ranked 543rd).
