Recap: Smithville Warriors vs. Hogan Prep Charter Rams
The Smithville Warriors had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 75-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hogan Prep Charter. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smithville in their matchups with Hogan Prep Charter: they've now lost three in a row.
Smithville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Weinzerl, who scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Toby Ford, who scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds.
Smithville's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hogan Prep Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Smithville will face off against Chillicothe at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chillicothe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. As for Hogan Prep Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Kearney at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
