Baseball Recap: Biloxi Has No Trouble Against D'iberville

Biloxi lost to D'Iberville last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Indians blew past the Warriors 13-4.

Shawn Gollott tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Adam Rugg was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Biloxi's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Leyton Gunter, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Biloxi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Biloxi's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for D'Iberville, they moved to 9-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Warriors beat Biloxi by a score of 10-6 on Saturday.
