Preview: Macon County Bulldogs vs. Chattahoochee County Panthers
The Macon County Bulldogs and the Chattahoochee County Panthers will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Macon County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Macon County stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 70-32 win over Central. Given Macon County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Central is ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Macon County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aliyah Lake, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Cochran, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Chattahoochee County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 51-35 fall against Marion County.
Despite their loss, Chattahoochee County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Yaelah Protho, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jessika Carter, who scored 11 points.
Macon County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Chattahoochee County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Saturday as the two teams are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Macon County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.1 points per game. It's a different story for Chattahoochee County, though, as they've been averaging only 52.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Macon County couldn't quite finish off Chattahoochee County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 46-44. Can Macon County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
