Basketball Recap: Golden Plains Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wichita County, Golden Plains was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They managed a 39-35 victory over the Western Plains Bobcats. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Western Plains saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaelyn Spangler posted nine points and six assists. Spangler has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Kalihan Flax was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Golden Plains' win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Western Plains, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Golden Plains will square off against Victoria on Tuesday. As for Western Plains, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Western Plains Bobcats take on the Moscow Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
