Downingtown East proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Avon Grove Red Devils 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 17th.

The result came thanks to Sam Wendig's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Downingtown East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
