Shawnee had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Pope County Pirates 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Redskins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Shawnee got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawnee will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Crab Orchard at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pope County, they will host Webber at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
