Softball Game Preview: Ridgeland Titans vs. Yazoo County Panthers

The Ridgeland Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Yazoo County Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Yazoo County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ridgeland, who comes in off a win.

Ridgeland will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Yazoo City on Friday. Ridgeland put the hurt on Yazoo City with a sharp 26-7 victory. The Titans have beaten the Indians the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Indians has come to flipping the script.

Ridgeland got a massive performance out of Ashley Turcios, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Turcios a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Andrews, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Ridgeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .838. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Yazoo County didn't have quite enough to beat Cleveland Central on Friday and fell 9-8.

Ridgeland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Yazoo County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Ridgeland might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Yazoo County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Ridgeland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
