Baseball Recap: Hudson Has No Trouble Against Nacogdoches

Hudson barely beat Nacogdoches the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Dragons on Saturday. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.

Trip Sanders and Ceylan Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Sanders went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Williams went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those three RBI gave Sanders a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Buddy Mendez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hudson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Hudson's record now sits at 12-3. As for Nacogdoches, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hudson will challenge Longview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nacogdoches, they will head out to square off against Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Mavericks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
