Baseball Recap: Mariner Victorious

Mariner lost to Bonita Springs back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Tritons walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Bullsharks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tritons.

Ryan Kotarski and Nick Oliveros made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Kotarski tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Oliveros tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Kotarski is becoming a predictor of Mariner's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). At bat, Kotarski went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Oliveros went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Oliveros a new career-high.

In other batting news, Antonio Marino and Xavier Muentes did most of the damage at the plate: Marino got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Muentes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Marino a new career-high.

Mariner's record is now 8-6. As for Bonita Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Mariner will face off against Lemon Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bonita Springs, they will take on Forest Hill at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
