Softball Recap: Pope County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It's playoff time, and Pope County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Hardin County Cougars on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Bella Fasolo was incredible, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydan Holmes, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Pope County's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Hardin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Looking ahead, Pope County is taking a road trip to challenge Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Hardin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
