Preview: Bruce Trojans vs. Ingomar Falcons

The Bruce Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Ingomar Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Bruce didn't have too much trouble with Water Valley at home as they won 50-32. Bruce pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Water Valley cut but never quite recovered from.

A'toria Knox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bruce's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laken Corbitt, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, Ingomar waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They blew past New Albany 67-17 at home. Ingomar has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Macie Phifer was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. Daylen Grisham was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Bruce has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. As for Ingomar, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with that win, which was their 27th straight at home dating back to last season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bruce have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ingomar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Bruce was taken down by Ingomar 66-25 when the teams last played last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Phifer, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Now that Bruce knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
