Softball Recap: Waukesha North Takes a Loss

Waukesha North had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-15 to make it nine. They fell 5-1 to the Kettle Moraine Lasers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lasers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 back in April.

As for Kettle Moraine, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

For Kettle Moraine's part, Briella Hack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Casey Navarro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Reagan Ostram also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waukesha North will host Muskego at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kettle Moraine, they will welcome Catholic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something the Lasers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
