Basketball Game Preview: Rouse Raiders vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Rouse Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rouse is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.

Rouse is headed into Tuesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They fell 57-45 to Liberty Hill on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly 12 points.

Despite the defeat, Rouse saw an underclassman step up: sophomore D'Andre Gardner posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Gardner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Baldwin, who had six points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Alamo Heights strolled past Veterans Memorial with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-43. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mules.

Alamo Heights' win came from a few key players Rouse will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was William Whittingstall, who made all 5 shots he took for 10 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.8% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Matthew Munguia, who earned 12 points.

Alamo Heights' victory bumped their record up to 26-8. As for Rouse, their loss dropped their record down to 22-12.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rouse has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Alamo Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Rouse came up short against Alamo Heights when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 61-50. Thankfully for Rouse, Flin Cooper (who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
