Baseball Game Preview: Little River Academy Bumblebees vs. Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls

The Little River Academy Bumblebees will take on the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Little River Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Little River Academy picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against McCallum by a score of 8-4.

Cylar Fuentes and Jamie Chipman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fuentes pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Chipman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Fuentes scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Chipman went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was Chipman's first of the season.

In other batting news, Kaleb Quilty was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Schwake, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Little River Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Anderson-Shiro unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against Bridge City, falling 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Fighting Owls have suffered since March 9, 2024.

Anderson-Shiro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Little River Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
