Soccer Game Preview: Springstead vs. New Smyrna Beach

The Springstead Eagles will head out to challenge the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Springstead comes in on three and New Smyrna Beach on four.

Springstead is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wesley Chapel, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one goal.

Christian Gies was the driving force of Springstead's attack as he scored both of Springstead's goals, bringing his season total up to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, everything went New Smyrna Beach's way against Cypress Creek on Tuesday as New Smyrna Beach made off with a 4-1 victory. Considering the Barracudas have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

New Smyrna Beach has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-1-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those nine games. As for Springstead, their win bumped their record up to 15-3-1.
