Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Hollins Royals
Northeast is on a six-game streak of home losses, Hollins a 17-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Northeast Vikings will take on the Hollins Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Northeast suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 61-13 defeat at the hands of Gibbs. Northeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-3.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northeast struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Hollins suffered their closest loss since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Admiral Farragut by a score of 32-29.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Summer Morgan, who scored 14 points along with five steals and three blocks. Rebecka Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Hollins, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Northeast took their victory against Hollins when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 46-21. Will Northeast repeat their success, or does Hollins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
