The biggest upset of the week belonged to Velma Jackson, who took down 186th ranked Leflore County, 42-34. Emanuel Ross ran for 197 yards in the win.
East Side extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 4 this week by beating Ruleville Central, 34-8. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Trojans.
McClain's dynamic duo of Rotavious Thurmond and Robert Jordan proved tough for Leland to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thurmond threw for 268 yards and five touchdowns and Jordan had 169 yards receiving. Tyron Lemon helped McClain's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
The Tigers' Grant Simms and Devante Crow have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Simms has thrown for 1349 yards this season, while Crow has 26 catches for 648 yards. Quadre Butler from East Side leads the league in rushing with 1249 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Roger Burton's team takes on the Falcons. The Trojans are in first place, while Velma Jackson is in fourth place.
