Basketball Recap: Lake Zurich Gets the Win

Lake Zurich posted their closest win since December 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees 45-42. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Zee-Bees are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Lake Zurich and bumps their season record up to 12-13. As for Zion-Benton, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Zurich will head out to square off against Mundelein at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Zion-Benton, they are taking a road trip to face off against Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
