Volleyball Recap: Illinois Math & Science Academy Takes a Loss

Illinois Math & Science Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Crete-Monee Warriors. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Joaquin Belonio paced Illinois Math & Science Academy's offense, picking up five kills. Belonio were helped by Sergey Tyan and Max Schwartz, who contributed four assists each. Finally, Nicholas Mohyla and Jongwoo Kim kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Illinois Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Crete-Monee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

Illinois Math & Science Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Edward at 6:15 p.m. on the 9th. As for Crete-Monee, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Joliet Central on the 28th.
