Softball Recap: Southern's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Southern unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Ridge Miners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-14 on April 2nd.

Adeline Wilson put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Hayhurst made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-4. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Southern didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Allegany on the 24th. Mountain Ridge has also already played their next contest (against Fort Hill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
