Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for East Lyme

East Lyme had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars as they made off with a 9-2 victory. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 12-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mikaela Richter was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Lauryn Drago looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Kinzie Donahue was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Mia Lloyd was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

East Lyme's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-5.

East Lyme has already played their next matchup, a 15-7 victory against RHAM on the 21st. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Coginchaug Regional on the 20th.
