Baseball Game Preview: Pender Patriots vs. Heide Trask Titans

For the second straight game, Pender will face off against Heide Trask. The Patriots will host the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pender fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Heide Trask on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 2-1. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

For Heide Trask's part, they got a great performance from Tanner Sparkman as he struck out nine batters over 8.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Sparkman a new career-high.

At the plate, Heide Trask's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Namon Holly, who went 1-for-4 with one double. That double marked the first that Holly has hit this season.

Pender's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Heide Trask, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-16 record.
