Baseball Preview: Legend Titans vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies

The Legend Titans will head out on the road to square off against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Legend is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Chaparral, who was ranked 18th in their home state at the time (Legend was ranked 14th). Everything went Legend's way against Chaparral on Friday as Legend made off with a 10-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Legend considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Tony Slizowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Silas Meuli was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. Xander Meissner was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but ThunderRidge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over Highlands Ranch. ThunderRidge's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Trevor Beutner tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Ben Paquette was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Fisher, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a double.

Legend's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for ThunderRidge, their win bumped their record up to 4-12.

Legend was able to grind out a solid victory over ThunderRidge in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legend since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
