Recap: Anacostia Indians vs. Bowie Bulldogs

The Anacostia Indians suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 57-33 defeat at the hands of Bowie. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Anacostia came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in District of Columbia, while Bowie is ranked 40th in Maryland).

Anacostia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNiya Jackson, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Bowie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amira Kittles led the charge by scoring 13 points. Kittles continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Tatiana Munford was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Anacostia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Bowie, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
