Basketball Game Preview: Lake Stevens Vikings vs. Lakewood Cougars

The Lake Stevens Vikings will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Lakewood Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Stevens is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-46, which was the final score in Lake Stevens' tilt against Glacier Peak on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lakewood didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Squalicum on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Storm are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakewood's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Lake Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
