Basketball Recap: Chapel Swierad's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Statesville Christian over Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy + How To Watch

After flying high against Tabernacle Christian two weeks ago, Statesville Christian came back down to earth. The Lions received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 62-44 to the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots. The Lions have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chapel Swierad, who posted eight points. Swierad is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Madison Hall was another key player, putting up seven points.

Leia Garrett produced another solid effort dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 boards for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy. Garrett is becoming a predictor of the Patriots' success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Lexi Rae Sherrill also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Statesville Christian now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesville Christian will face off against Lee Park Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, they will square off against SouthLake Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
