Baseball Recap: Vernon Has No Trouble Against Graceville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blountstown, Vernon was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Graceville Tigers 18-8. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Vernon got a massive performance out of Colton Glover, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The Yellowjackets are 4-1 when Glover posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Glenn, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Glover wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Vernon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for the Yellowjackets: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Graceville, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vernon will host Franklin County at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
