League recap: Cascade Christian tops Cedar Park Christian to extend winning streak

1A Nisqually - Division 1 recap October 22, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Nisqually - Division 1 this week, Cascade Christian beat Cedar Park Christian 56-21. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Cougars.

Port Townsend took down Life Christian Academy 63-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacob King threw for 15 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 134 yards during the win.

Jacob McCormick threw for 195 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 4-6 with 0 interceptions.

Jaelin Goldsmith was a passing and rushing force as Cascade Christian topped the Eagles. He completed 5 passes for 153 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 71 yards. Goldsmith's key target this week was Mason Tobeck, who caught 3 passes for 101 yards.

George Tomal made the biggest impact on defense this week as Eatonville bested Bellevue Christian. The 6-foot-0 junior pulled down 1 interception and forced 1 fumble.

Matt Cain was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 179 yards on 7 carries as the Redskins bested Cedar Park Christian. King also contributed to the rushing game with 134 yards on the ground.

The Cougars' Goldsmith and Tobeck led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Goldsmith has thrown for 836 yards this season, while Tobeck has 15 catches for 277 yards. Port Townsend's King leads the league in rushing yards with 1,085.

The top two teams in 1A Nisqually - Division 1 will face off this week when first place Cascade Christian takes on second place Eatonville. Last week, Cascade Christian topped Todd Parmenter's team, while the Cruisers bested the Vikings.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Eatonville takes on the Cougars. George Fairhart's team has allowed 113 points this season, while Cascade Christian has given up 93. The Cruisers allowed 8 points last week as they beat Bellevue Christian.
