Softball Game Preview: Riverside-Durham Pirates vs. Northern Durham Knights

Riverside-Durham hasn't had much luck against Northern Durham recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Riverside-Durham has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Riverside-Durham lost 11-3 to East Chapel Hill on Monday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northern Durham posted their closest win since April 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Chapel Hill. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Roxy Nelson was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Stutts, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Northern Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northern Durham's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Riverside-Durham, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Riverside-Durham might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Northern Durham in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
