The Hudson Cobras will head out to face off against the Crystal River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Hudson sitting on three straight victories and Crystal River on six.
Hudson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Fivay on Monday. With that win, the Cobras brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Alivia Evans and Jesse Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Evans went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Evans a new career-high. Bella Veraldi also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Hudson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Crystal River put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Springstead. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since March 13th.
The result came thanks to Violet Flynn's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Crystal River's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Athena Childs, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Crystal River's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Hudson, their record is now 6-8.
Both Hudson and Crystal River just can't seem to miss. The Cobras have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Crystal River struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hudson suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Crystal River in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cobras avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
