Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Boulder City walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Pahrump Valley Trojans 9-8 on Wednesday. The Eagles are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight.

Payton Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Baylee Cook and Kylie Czubernat did most of the damage at the plate: Cook went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Czubernat went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Rhiley Beck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Boulder City's victory bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Pahrump Valley, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Boulder City will square off against Sports Leadership & Management at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulls will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pahrump Valley, they will challenge Mater Academy East Las Vegas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
