Softball Recap: Santa Barbara Dons vs. San Marcos Royals
Santa Barbara had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it 17. They lost 13-2 to the San Marcos Royals. The Dons were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for San Marcos, their record now sits at 7-12. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st (when they won 12-0).
For San Marcos' part, Lucia Dessert made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Dessert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, San Marcos got a massive performance out of Reese Large, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kayla Aguilar, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
