Football Recap: The Classical Academy Triumphs

If Denver West wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played The Classical Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Jackson Schipfer. The Titans simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Cowboys 41-8 with plenty of help from Schipfer, who rushed for 140 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Special teams played a big role in the game for The Classical Academy, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zach Mediavilla, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Marcelo Ortiz and King Stancil certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ortiz threw for 194 yards and one touchdown, while Stancil picked up 61 receiving yards and one score.

The Classical Academy's record is now 6-0. As for Denver West, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Classical Academy will welcome Alameda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Denver West, they will host Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cowboys will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
