Baseball Recap: Jasper Triumphs

Jasper was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Sarcoxie Bears by a score of 8-3. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 6-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jasper's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Thompson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Thompson a new career-high. Hunter Earl was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Jasper's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Sarcoxie, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jasper will square off against McAuley Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Sarcoxie, they will challenge Lockwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
