Basketball Recap: Temple Baptist Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Temple Baptist Academy can now relate to. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Minutemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-50 back in January.

Franklin Road Christian found their leader in sophomore Pierre DeShields, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards. What's more, DeShields also posted a 33% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Ben Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

With the loss, Temple Baptist Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games. As for Franklin Road Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 25-14.

Temple Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Franklin Road Christian, they have already played their next game, a 65-50 defeat against Berean Academy on the 28th.
