Baseball Recap: Fairfax Gets the Win

Fairfax proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Ironwood Eagles 12-10. This was payback for the Stampede, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jason Castillo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Castillo was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Isaiah Balderas was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Jesus Gurule was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Fairfax's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Ironwood, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Fairfax will square off against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ironwood, they will challenge Douglas at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
