Softball Game Preview: McKeesport Tigers vs. Penn Hills Indians

The McKeesport Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Penn Hills Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Penn Hills took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McKeesport, who comes in off a win.

McKeesport is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Steel Valley. McKeesport blew past Steel Valley 18-9 on Tuesday.

Ryenn Thomas made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Thomas was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jessica Miller was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Kendel Bercik was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Penn Hills lost 14-2 to Highlands on Monday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McKeesport skirted past Penn Hills 4-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will McKeesport repeat their success, or does Penn Hills has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
