Baseball Game Preview: Laredo LBJ Wolves vs. United South Panthers

Laredo LBJ is 0-10 against United South since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Wolves will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Laredo LBJ is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of United. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since February 21st.

Laredo LBJ saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leonardo Alvarez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither United South nor Eagle Pass made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Roman Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Laredo LBJ's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for United South, their victory bumped their record up to 21-9.

Laredo LBJ came up short against United South when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
