            Baseball Recap: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Sparta Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chester had no problem doing just that  on Monday. They came out on top against the Sparta Bulldogs by a score of  7-3. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Bulldogs  back in April, they had to take a  6-2  defeat.

 Evan Dunning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three  runs (all of which were unearned)  on five hits. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Chester is 5-2 when he allows at  most  two  earned runs, but 7-10 otherwise.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Trey McCartney, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run. What's more,  he posted two  hits, the most he's  had since back in April. Another player making a difference was  Ethan Colvis, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  run.
The  win  got Chester back to even at 12-12. As for Sparta, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost 11 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record  this season.
As of now, neither Chester nor Sparta have any future games scheduled.
