Baseball Recap: Bennett Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mitchell on Monday, Bennett came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 11-1 to the Wellington Eagles on Thursday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Bennett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cougar Cronk, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Cronk is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Bennett has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Wellington, their record now sits at 12-9.

Coming up, Bennett will challenge Byers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Wellington, they will square off against Berthoud at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
