Basketball Recap: Cypress Lakes Comes Up Short

Cypress Lakes has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bridgeland Bears on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-29 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Lakes lost, don't look at Makennah Alexis. Despite the final result, she posted ten points in addition to six boards and six steals. Alexis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 66 games she's played dating back to last season. Antaniah Redmond was another key player, putting up nine points.

Bridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ibifaa Azogu led the charge by as she made all 7 shots she took racking up 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Daleigha Clark, who went 6 for 14 en route to 23 points.

Cypress Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Bridgeland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season.
