Baseball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Alexandria-Monroe Tigers

Elwood hasn't had much luck against Alexandria-Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 14 defeats in a row, Elwood turned things around against Monroe Central on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears, sneaking past 9-8. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Golden Bears on their field since May 8, 2017.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four match, Alexandria-Monroe brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Wes-Del on Monday as they made off with a 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Adrian Smith, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 12 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen May, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Elwood's victory bumped their record up to 3-19. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Elwood might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Alexandria-Monroe in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
