Baseball Recap: Springport Triumphs

Springport won the last time they faced Union City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 11-7.

The team relied heavily on Travis Riehle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Marshall Shoemaker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Springport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Springport's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Union City, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

Coming up, Springport will challenge Eaton Rapids at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union City, they will head out to take on Concord at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
