Basketball Recap: Cayden Daugherty Key Part of a Team Effort in Sharks Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gulf Coast walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dunbar Tigers 74-72. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Gulf Coast's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cayden Daugherty, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Daugherty a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Patrick Franco, who went 8 for 16 en route to 19 points and eight assists.

Gulf Coast pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Dunbar, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Gulf Coast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-52 defeat against Naples on the 7th. Dunbar does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
