Basketball Recap: Marian Comes Up Short

Marian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-61 heartbreaker at the hands of Xavier Educational Academy. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Xavier Educational Academy are ranked 31st).

Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Xavier Educational Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Marian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Xavier Educational Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against The New School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
