Volleyball Recap: East Carteret Mariners vs. Southside Seahawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pamlico County, East Carteret was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Southside Seahawks by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mariners also won the last time the pair played back in September.
East Carteret had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22.
Despite the loss, Southside saw an underclassman step up: Madilynn Moore had 20 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces gave Moore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elanor Davis, who had 23 digs and a kill.
